Group Description

Welcome to our 8-week Anxiety group designed to help you alleviate anxiety and build a more fulfilling life using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

This group is a safe and supportive space where you can learn practical skills and strategies to manage anxiety, enhance psychological flexibility, and increase overall well-being. ACT is an evidence-based approach that combines mindfulness, acceptance, and behavior change techniques to help individuals achieve a greater sense of peace and life satisfaction.

Group Objectives:

  • Increase Mindfulness: Develop the ability to be fully present in the moment and observe your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment. This helps reduce rumination and anxiety.
  • Enhance Psychological Flexibility: Learn to effectively respond to challenging thoughts and emotions, allowing you to adapt and respond to life's difficulties with greater resilience and agility.
  • Identify Values and Goals: Clarify your personal values and set meaningful life goals. Discover how aligning your actions with your values can lead to reduced anxiety and increased life satisfaction.
  • Accept Unpleasant Emotions: Learn how to accept and make space for uncomfortable emotions, rather than avoiding or suppressing them. This can reduce emotional distress and anxiety.
  • Defuse from Negative Thoughts: Develop skills to distance yourself from distressing thoughts, reducing their impact on your emotions and behaviors.
  • Improve Communication and Connection: Enhance your interpersonal skills and build more meaningful and supportive relationships, reducing social anxiety.
  • Mindful Self-Compassion: Cultivate self-compassion and self-kindness to reduce self-criticism and self-judgment, which often contribute to anxiety.
  • Commit to Action: Set specific, achievable action steps based on your values and goals, empowering you to create a life that is more in line with your authentic self and reduces anxiety.

This group is led by Guillermo Palomino, Behavioral Health Technician who specializes in ACT and anxiety management.
