Eastern Contemplative Practices

Nick is a graduate counseling intern at Arizona State University whose clinical perspective is deeply shaped by his background as a U.S. Army airborne infantryman, paramedic crew chief, and law enforcement officer. Having spent his 20’s inside high-demand, high-stress environments, Nick brings an innate understanding of how the nervous system navigates trauma, operational stress, and unspoken grief.

Nick also brings personal insight into the complexities of leaving high-control religious systems. Having navigated the exit from an orthodox, high-demand faith tradition himself, he holds an attuned, grounded space for the disorientation, identity loss, and nervous system dysregulation that often accompany religious deconstruction and reconstruction.

In the therapy room, Nick balances evidence-based Western frameworks (such as ACT, EFT, and somatic approaches) with the depth of Eastern contemplative traditions and mindfulness practices. Rather than adhering to a rigid, one-size-fits-all model, he tailors each session to the client’s unique nervous system, values, and goals.

Outside the therapy room, Nick enjoys spending time in nature, staying physically active, photography and videography, supporting advancements in psychedelic-assisted therapy research, and spending quality time with his wife and daughter.
