Confidence Isn’t Fearlessness is a eight-week therapeutic group focused on building confidence through action rather than waiting for fear or self-doubt to disappear. Participants will explore fear, avoidance, failure and rejection, shame and comparison, self-trust, and values while practicing willingness to take meaningful action despite discomfort.

Confidence Isn’t Fearlessness is an eight-week therapeutic group designed to help participants develop confidence by changing their relationship with fear, discomfort, uncertainty, and self-doubt. Rather than viewing confidence as something that must be felt before taking action, participants will learn that confidence often develops through taking meaningful action while fear is present. Through psychoeducation, experiential activities, group discussion, and between-session practice, participants will explore how fear and the nervous system influence behavior, how avoidance can reinforce anxiety and decrease confidence, and how fears of failure and rejection can limit meaningful action. Participants will also examine the impact of shame, comparison, and the inner critic on self-perception and behavior.
Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), exposure principles, values-based action, and self-efficacy, participants will practice increasing willingness to experience discomfort, taking manageable risks, and building self-trust through repeated action. The group will support participants in identifying personal values and developing the skills to make choices based on the life they want to build rather than what fear tells them to avoid.
The central message of the group is that confidence does not require fearlessness. Confidence develops through learning, “I can feel afraid, uncertain, or uncomfortable and still choose what I do next.”

Perhaps you think the idea of joining a group sounds a bit intimidating. The truth is: IT IS! But we think we do some of our best work when we might feel a tad uncomfortable. We offer classes in a variety of different areas:

For those who are trying to learn more about themselves, go deeper, and enhance their toolkit on life.

For those who want to take their relationship from a 4 or a 5 to a 10.

Classes focused around anxiety, depression, trauma, mood, OCD, and more.
Groups fill up quickly and have limited capacity. When we create a group we want to know that the people who are signing up are dedicated to this experience. Additionally, closed groups (meaning a group where new members cannot join halfway through) provide a much more cohesive experience in terms of support and curriculum.
Actually, we have a wide variety of groups that we offer throughout the year. We post groups the month before they begin to open registration. You can see all of our groups in the catalog below. If you have any questions about upcoming offerings, feel free to reach out in our contact form.
Yes! In fact, a poll at Thrive showed that 73% of group participants found group therapy to be as effective or more effective than individual therapy. Plus, we don’t need a poll to tell you that it’s about a third of the cost.
We’re always happy to talk you through this portion. A lot of our groups have a specific diagnosis to them and that can be a good indicator if it is a good fit for you. You can also always speak with your therapist about the group, whether that therapist is with Thrive or not.
Nobody wants to stay committed to something that is not benefiting them. We completely understand this. Talk to your group leader and we will find a solution.
Groups are an amazing way to do some great work at a fraction of the cost of traditional therapy. Perhaps you think the idea of joining a group sounds a bit intimidating. The truth is: IT IS! But we think we do some of our best work when we might feel a tad uncomfortable.
