Group Description

Neurodiversity references neurobiological differences in brain functioning within sensory processing, executive functioning, social comfort, and cognition. Examples of neurodivergence include ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, learning disabilities, etc.

Neurodivergence can significantly impact functioning within our day to day routines, our ability to pursue values-based life goals, and the way we feel and show up within relationships.

Without the language to understand the intricacies of why our brains process and respond to our inner and outer worlds in the ways they do, it is very common for neurodivergent individuals to struggle with managing heightened anxiety, irritability, shame, burnout, impulsive reactivity, and/or strong avoidance patterns.

This workshop is psychoeducational in nature, it is not therapy.

This workshop will include:

  • Education (think classroom format)
  • Self-reflective prompts to explore during the workshop.
  • Interactive discussion geared towards the experience of relatability with other attendees and opportunity to ask questions about the content being presented.

Objectives of this workshop include:

  • Increase an understanding of neurodivergence and what this means for you.
  • Explore “masking”, the impact masking can have on your energy and mental health, and the process of learning to safely unmask.
  • Learn about sensory processing and explore your own unique sensory patterns.
  • Gain practical resources for increasing self-regulation, executive functioning, and self-advocacy.
  • Learn about the correlation between neurodivergence and trauma.
  • Experience relatability and connection with others who understand the lived experience of neurodivergence.

Our Neurodivergence Workshop is co-facilitated by two neuroaffirming, trauma-informed providers:

  • Lauren Mokarry, a licensed professional counselor who specializes in trauma and attachment.
  • Sarah Anderson, an occupational therapist who specializes in bringing support around sensory sensitivities and executive functioning.
