My name is Maria Martin, and I am a Licensed AssociateCounselor in the state of Arizona. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical MentalHealth from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology withminors in Psychology, Sociology, and Social Sciences in Forensics from NorthernArizona University. Throughout my multiple years in the mental health field Ihave gained experience across multiple levels of care, various ages, and withmany disorders.
I currently specialize in working with adults, men and womenstruggling to navigate adulthood and life’s challenges. Many times individualswere never taught how to talk about what they feel, only how to pushthrough it, fix it, or ignore it. But over time, that disconnect can show up asstress, anger, anxiety, disconnection in relationships, or a sense thatsomething’s “off” but hard to name. My work focuses on helping individualsunderstand and express their emotions in a way that feels real, grounded, andauthentic, not forced or “therapy-speak.” In our sessions, we’ll work togetherto uncover what’s really going on underneath the surface, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be getting in your way, and build practical tools tonavigate life with more clarity, confidence, and connection.
I take a straightforward, supportive, and no-judgmentapproach. My goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you betterunderstand yourself so you can show up more fully, at work, in relationships, and in your own life. This approach is client-centered and holistic, emphasizing that one’s well-being must be considered including physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health along with mental health needs.Utilizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, to helptailor therapy to each individuals needs and encouraging growth,self-awareness, and resilience. In working with clients I see it as acollaboration, providing individuals with the space to process theirexperiences, exploring their thoughts and feelings at their own pace whileproviding support and guidance through a variety of tools and methods. By utilizingskills from a variety of treatment methods including Cognitive BehavioralTherapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, andPsychodynamic Therapy.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, angry, disconnected, or unsurehow to express what’s going on inside, therapy can be a space to start makingsense of it. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
